I’ve written about Sandra Boynton being our favorite children’s author. But her work doesn’t only include books — she also writes songs! Many of them are as funny and silly as most of her books are. But in the song, “Beautiful Baby” from her latest album, “Frog Trouble,” she writes as a parent, deeply enamored by her child. I’m sitting right now with my little girl sleeping in my arms and I couldn’t think of a better song to capture how I feel right now.

Fortunately, Sandra Boynton shared the song on her official YouTube channel. I’m sharing the lyrics here as well. Enjoy the song, and don’t fight back the tears :)

“Beautiful Baby”
By Sandra Boynton and Michael Ford
Sung by Darius Rucker

Beautiful baby, beautiful child,
Gentle and maybe just a little bit wild.
When I see your face,
I know that it’s true:
No one any place is beautiful as you,
Beautiful as you, baby.

Beautiful baby, beautiful child,
Gentle and maybe just a little bit wild.
When I hear you laugh,
It’s music in gold,
You bring to my life miracles untold, baby.
And now you smile, I look in your eyes,
It’s all worthwhile and I realize
How beautiful, so beautiful, simply beautiful.
Oh child, child of mine.

Beautiful baby, beautiful child,
Gentle and maybe just a little bit wild.
When I see your face, I know that it’s true,
There’s no one any place as beautiful as you.
Beautiful as you, baby.
